BHL Hurricanes Swim Team
Welcome to the BHL Hurricanes 2026 Swim Season!
We are a neighborhood summer swim team that has an 8 week season which is usually from mid May until the end of June each year.
The BHL Hurricanes Swim Team is for BHL resident families and extended families, with registrations accepted for non-resident swimmers as space permits. Priority registration is always given to BHL residents. Our swimmers are ages 5-18 years as of May 31st. Swimmers in all age groups should be comfortable in the water and be able to swim, yet they do not need to know the swim strokes. All swimmers 7+ must be able to swim the length of the pool independently. Coaches will conduct a trial swim length on the 1st day for kids 7+. Coaches are available for swim lessons. BHL Hurricanes coaches work on teaching correct stroke technique in all four strokes, swimming skills like dives and turns, and improving endurance. The coaches also emphasize teaching the value of sportsmanship, leadership, compassion, and team spirit - all in a fun and friendly environment. Swimmers compete in swim meets against other teams in the West Georgia Summer Swim Association.
Summer league swimming is a "family" sport. Parents are an integral part of the success of the team as they volunteer, lead, and run the organization. You will be required to volunteer a minimum of 4 halves of the meets.
- Burnt Hickory Lakes high school students (not participating in swim team) that help with concessions can receive a letter of recommendation for future endeavors.

Stroke Clinic- Monday, June 1 @ 9:15-10:45
The stroke clinic will take place during our regularly scheduled practice times. Swimmers should attend their normal practice times. The stroke clinic is intended for our 11/12s and our 13+ age groups this season.
- Stroke clinic with coach Jim from Tidal Wave Swim Club. This is a great opportunity for our swimmers to learn more details about swim strokes. Please ensure swimmers come ready, willing and able to listen and learn!
Patti Wilder-GRPA State Qualifying Meet for Cobb county residents- June 26-28
**Patti Wilder Meet is not part of our regular summer swim program. Additonal fees apply** (Our coaches want to encourage all swimmers who are interested to experience this meet. They are willing to be your coach on deck and will be there to support you and cheer you on!)
